Located in the far and
high area in North Vietnam and own a special cool climate, Sapa is very well
known among tourists. People in this small town of Lao Cai Province still
remains their traditions in dressing and cultivating, especially their weekly
colorful markets. There are nearly 10 ethnic minorities living in town and the
nearby villages, so there are many different routes to visit this interesting
site. This three day itinerary will satisfy who wants discover the daily life of
local people deeply and completely with 2 nights at local houses.
Day 1: Sapa trekking, home stay
(B, L, D)
A local guide will meet you at the station and get in a bus. The bus ride uphill
to Sapa takes a little over an hour, giving you a glimpse of the stunning vistas
and impressive rice terraces. 8:00am arrive to Sapa, have breakfast and prepare
to start trekking at 10:00am down the valley. Stop for a picnic lunch and
continue to Ta Van village to visit Dzay minority people for a unique home stay
in the village.
Day 2: Sapa trekking, home stay (B, L, D)
This full day of trekking takes you along local paths, up and down rice terraces
and into the villages and homes of the local hill tribes, especially getting to
see the colorful Red Dzao hill tribe. Picnic lunch by the stream. Overnight in
Ban Ho (Tay hill tribe).
Day 3: Sapa - Hanoi (B, L, D)
Short trek to the dirt
road for the jeep ride back to Sapa. Free afternoon to explore Sapa town, with
great shopping in the market. Bus departs from Sapa at 5-5:30pm, arrives in Lao
Cai around 6:30pm for the night train back to Hanoi (soft sleeper with
air-conditioner). Trip ends 5:00-5:30am the next day at the Hanoi station.
